Greece is due to receive €160.24 million to support youth employment in the period 2014-2015 according to a memo released yesterday by the European Commission. The funds of the Youth Employment Initiative will be used to finance employment and training programs in European regions, where unemployment among young people is more than 25 %. All Greek regions are eligible, with the exception of the Ionian islands.The funds will be available from January 1, 2014 and must be absorbed by the end of 2015. The aim is to exclusively support young people, aged 15-30 years old, who are not currenlty studing or working. The European Union has earmarked 6.0 billion euros for programs to support unemployment among young people in its 2014-2020 budget.
