Addressing the B2B networking event Europe 2020 Strategy for Growth: Promoting Business Partnerships in Greece held on March 11 in Athens, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras presented the government’s initiatives for boosting entrepreneurship and stressed that 2013 will be a turning point for Greece. "Greece will make it," the premier noted, adding that the country needs to expediently implement the roadmap for exiting the crisis.

European Commission Vice-president and Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship Antonio Tajani, also present at the event, noted "that without economic growth, it is impossible to beat the crisis."

He added the many sacrifices by the Greek people would be all in vain, unless Ecofin is complemented by a Competitiveness Council,  to adopt decisions with micro-economy in mind. The B2B event was organised by the Enterprise Europe Network-Hellas and the Development Ministry, with the aim of promoting business partnerships between Greek and European SMEs active in sectors identified as key contributors in achieving growth.

  •  Gazprom CEO in Athens for Privatisation Talks
Prime Minister Antonis Samaras met yesterday with visiting Deputy Board Chairman and CEO of the Russian energy company Gazprom, Alexey Miller.

According to a Gazprom statement, the two sides discussed cooperation in energy, and specifically, Gazprom’s participation in the privatizations of Greece’s Public Gas Corporation, and Natural Gas Transmission System Operator (DEPA-DESFA).

Miller also held a meeting with Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructure, Transport & Networks Minister Kostis Hatzidakis; their talks focused on Greek energy market's present and future activities.
