A joint declaration of Intent concerning bilateral cooperation on Renewable Energy Sources (RES) was signed on February 6, by the Greek Ministry for Environment, Energy and Climate Change, the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conversation and Nuclear Safety and the Task Force in Greece.

The venture seeks to develop close collaboration concerning RES via a technical assistance programme to be implemented in two stages between 2013-2015.

This includes an RES technology cost analysis, synergies in the framework of the EU Directive on RES and the introduction of best practices. The collaboration aims at a roadmap for reforms that will secure the sustainability of RES in Greece. The total cost of the programme amounts to € 1 million, with the European Commission funding 75 %, and the Federal Ministry providing the remaining 25%.
