A team of students from the Law Faculty of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens won the title of the Best Newcomer team at the 8th International Commercial Mediation Competition (ICC) held in Paris on February 8-13. Sixty-six universities from 31 countries, 100 mediators and more than 500 students participated in the event.

The students put their negotiation and mediation advocacy skills to the test by applying the ICC Amicable Dispute Resolution (ADR) rules in mock cases judged by leading professional mediators. The Greek team received excellent reviews (especially for their debate against the winning team of Fordham, NY), managing to win four cases plus the title of best newcomer team.

The team consisted of Faidonas Varesis, Chloe Iorsanidou, Irene Kikarea and Athanasios Tasopoulos, and was trained by Assistant Private Law Professor, Antonios Karampatzos, and Athens lawyer and arbitrator, Apostolos Yannakoulias.
