• Linyekula @ Onassis Cultural Centre

The 38 year-old African dancer and choreographer Faustin Linyekula will perform at the Onassis Cultural Centre, from February 6-10.

His art has strong political connotations, with his long-suffering homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire, formerly the Belgian Congo) at its very heart.

In Le Cargo, his first solo, the celebrated choreographer returns to the body and movement as unsurpassed tools for understanding and recording history.His dance tells stories of love and darkness, but his message remains optimistic.

• Hertz Festival@ Athens Concert Hall

Hertz Festival, hosted at the Athens Concert Hall on February 8 & 9, and ,co-organized by the Goethe Institute of Athens, the Nordic Culture Point and the Norwegian Embassy, focuses on innovation in sound and digital arts.


In 2013's edition, Hertz is widening its thematic spectrum by hosting Audio-Visual performances and installations, created by major figures in the fields of exploring new media, towards aural and optical navigation and synthesis.

•  Ichneutae@ Michael Cacoyannis Foundation

The classical play Ichneutae by Sophocles will be staged at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, on February 9. Ichneutae, also known as the Searchers, Tracking Satyrs, is the only preserved Satyr play by the great Athenian dramatist.

It refers to the stealing of Apollo’s sacred oxen by the young Hermes and the invention of the first string instrument.However, the main theme of the play is the humanization of the human beast through the liberating nature of music. The play is directed by  acclaimed director Demos Avdeliodis.

Guitarist Lefteris Christofis and bassist Dominique Di Piazza play at the Half Note Jazz Club from February 7 to 10.


At their performance they will present Christofis’ latest album Nous Icons, which was recorded by the legendary Blue Note label and was hailed by the critics.
