Greece ranks 4th in Europe and 7th internationally in terms of capacity of new solar power installations for 2012, according to data published by the Association of Photovoltaic Companies.

Specifically, solar power installations of 912 megawatts (MW) capacity were established in 2012, which corresponds to 88% of all RES potential added during the year.

Photovoltaic plants produced a total of 1.7 billion kilowatts, covering 3% of the country’s total electric power needs, thus reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 1.12 million tons.
