Picturing Anatolia @ The Gennadius Library
An exhibition of photographs and books under the title Picturing Anatolia. The Photographs of John Henry Haynes is on display at the Gennadius Library until January 20.
Haynes served as photographer for the American excavations at Assos and at Nippur in Mesopotamia; he traveled across Asia Minor, in 1884 and 1887, photographing historic and archaeological sites, many for the first time.
- Visual Dialogues 2012 @ The Plato's Academy Leisure Park
The exhibition Visual Dialogues 2012 is taking place at the Plato's Academy Leisure Park till January 16. The ten works selected are entirely new, original works, created by the artists upon invitation by the Onassis Foundation. They are produced using new media technologies (video art, projection of digital images, animation etc.) and focus on the financial, political and state crisis as a challenge for democracy and the arts and on social factors like unemployment and migration as a motive for artistic action.

Pianist and composer Yiorgos Psihoyios plays with his Trio at the Half Note Jazz Club on January 11. The programme includes scores from Walt Disney movies performed in a jazz way, improvisations and spontaneous new versions of Psihogios’ older pieces.

A one-day-conference titled Young Architects and New Technologies is taking place at the Benaki Museum on January 11. The conference, which is organized in the framework of the 7th Biennale of Young Greek Architects, will focus on new material and technological methods in modern architecture.
