Europe’s greatest scoring machine and one of the architects of the Greek Basketball wonder, Nick Galis is faced with yet another challenge in his prominent record- breaking career.

Already in the FIBA Hall of Fame since 2007, Nikos Galis has been officially nominated for the Class of 2013 by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, an honour reserved only to the most exceptional basketball players of all time. The 7-member International Committee of the NMBHF can vote for one non-American candidate from a list featuring legendary basketball superstars (such as Vlade Divac), as a Direct Elect into the Class of 2013.

The final decision is then subsequently delivered by the Honors Committee that reviews the player’s overall records and achievements over the years.

According to the enshrinement process a player must be fully retired for five years before being eligible for the BHOF.The Direct Elect of the BHOF will be announced in February at the NBA All-Star Game. Nick Galis had stunned the world when, against all odds, he conquered the Gold Medal with Greece in the European Baskeball Championship in 1987, having scored 40 points against the USSR in a breathtaking final.
