From Stagnation to Forced Adjustment: Reforms in Greece, 1974-2010, edited by Stathis Kalyvas, George Pagoulatos, and Haridimos Tsoukas, and published by Columbia University Press, delves into reform efforts in Greece and the factors contributing to Greece’s current political and economic crisis. The book examines three decades of stop-start reforms and their political and institutional consequences.

The phenomenon of Euroscepticism, as a result of the crisis in Greece, is examined by George Pagoulatos in a paper titled Reinventing Europe: Desperately hanging on in Greece.

Part of the Reinventing Europe project, run by the European Council on International Relations, the paper examines the fact that many Greeks, who had seen membership of the European Union as a factor of socioeconomic progress, now blame elements of Europe for their tribulations.

Finally, Greece: Economics, Political and Social Issues, edited by Panagiotis Liargovas, debates important economic, political and social issues, which have played a major role in preventing Greece’s transformation into a modern capitalist economy.
