Archbishop Demetrios of America has been invited by U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer, Chairman of the Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, to offer the benediction at the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Luncheon, on January 21, 2013, while Reverend Luis Cortes will deliver the opening prayer."

To participate with a special prayer in such an historic event constitutes a tremendous honor indeed," the Archbishop said upon hearing of the invitation.

The Inaugural Luncheon will take place at the National Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol, following the ceremonies for the inauguration of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
