Costa Gavras was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Faculty of Fine Arts, School of Film Studies) at a ceremony held on January 28. 
Gavras represents the face of creative Greece internationally, notes the announcement issued by the School of Film Studies.
In his speech, the filmmaker addressed primarily the young, urging them to resist "those who tell them to dream small […] to the misery of routine" and to believe in utopia.
