Aris Grigoriadis won yesterday a gold medal for Greece at the 2012 LEN European Swimming Championships taking place from May 21 to 27 in Debrecen, Hungary.
The 27-year-old Greek champion finished first in the 100-metre backstroke final with a time of 53.86 seconds, leaving behind Helge Meeuw of Germany and Yakov-Yan Toumarkin of Israel.
Grigoriadis was the first Greek swimmer to be crowned world champion in the 50m backstroke event of the 2005 World Championships in Montreal.
He had also won the gold in 50m backstroke and the silver in 100m backstroke at the European Championships of Eindhoven in 2008.
