Prime Minister Lucas Papademos received the European Parliament Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) group leader Guy Verhofstadt on April 2, who presented the ALDE proposal for the Greek economy recovery. Later in the day, Democratic Alliance party leader Dora Bakoyannis and Guy Verhofstadt unveiled their common proposal during a joint press conference.

The 'Greece 2020' programme calls for a firm European orientation, supports vital reforms and places emphasis on the need for growth. According to the former Belgian Prime Minister, "what is needed is a radical change from the old system. We need is a pro-European, pro-reform and pro-growth agenda."
