Philippos Sachinidis - until now Alternate Finance Minister - was sworn in yesterday as Greece’s new Finance Minister, following Evangelos Venizelos’s resignation from the post after the latter was elected at the helm of PASOK party. Sachinidis studied Economics at Piraeus University and received a Master's degree from Queens College, City University of New York and a PhD in Economics from the University of Manchester, where he taught Economics between 1991 and 1994.
