EXHIBITIONS
- Art Students @ ASFA
An exhibition with works by 24 young artists, students at the Athens School of Fine Arts, is on display at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.Titled Color in the Land of Our Times, the exhibition draws its theme and inspiration from poet George Douatzis’ book Land Of Our Times and seeks to create a visual art-poetic event that sheds a different light on contemporary Greece.
- Things @ TAF
The Art Foundation (TAF) is hosting an exhibition titled Things, running until May 6. Things delves into the imaginative and creative qualities of inanimate objects around us.Most works are remodeled commonplace objects and constitute an oscillation between order and disorder, organization and randomness.
A series of choreographed encounters with the works of art, staged at TAF, question people’s usual attitudes towards the established material culture. Cultural events run in tandem with the exhibition, such as the screening of Peter Fischli and David Weiss's iconic film The Way Things Go, on March 19-26.
DANCE
From March 22 running through April 8, the Onassis Cultural Centre is staging Era Povera, performed by the Aerites dance company, choreographed by talented Patricia Apergi. Era povera – Latin for Poor Era- seeks to explore fresh ways to survive in the city by combining contemporary forms of dance and other elements of physical expression.
Aerites believe that dance-street art is not just an alterative artistic viewpoint, but a social statement, a roadmap for dancers who want to refute the status quo and live freely in times of destitution and poverty.
