The Greek Kir-Yianni and the Chinese Mogao wineries are starting a joint venture to produce xinomavro wine in China.
This is the first planting of a Greek grape in China, but also the only xinomavro vine for commercial purposes outside Greece.
Gansu province in central China has been chosen for the cultivation of the grape because of its climate, which is similar to that of Northern Greece, where the xinomavro grows.
