Culture and Tourism Minister Pavlos Yeroulanos was in Shanghai on August 28-29 to inaugurate the exhibition "You in Greece" in the city’s library.

The exhibition is part of the "Greek Tourism Week," which is being held as part of the Shanghai EXPO 2010, from August 27 to September 3.

The "You in Greece" event highlights Greece's tourism industry and cultural traditions, and suggests ways of further promoting them into the Chinese market. Through a 3-D interactive "Gate," visitors are able to enjoy Greece's famed sceneries, island architecture and landscape.

During the "Greek Tourism Week," two forums are also being held: one on "Alternative Forms of Tourism- Therapeutic tourism: the Greek and Chinese Approach," and another on "Sustainable Tourism and Urban Regeneration: The Way to Growth."

With an article titled "Perceiving Greece through the heart, mind and…stomach," in the Chinese press, readers were invited to explore Greece. Gaining extensive media coverage, Yeroulanos stressed that Greece will simplify visa-issuance procedures and explore the possibility of establishing a network of direct flights to China. "Greece remains a safe and pleasant tourist destination," Yeroulanos added just one month before the Chinese official vacation period.
