Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitris Droutsas was in Brussels yesterday to participate in the EU General Affairs Council (GAC), which focused on preparations for the September 16 European Council.

Referring to the results of the referendum in Turkey, Droutsas said that "the Turkish people made a clear choice and sent a strong message of support to the reform agenda set up by Prime Minister Erdogan and his government." This landmark referendum gives Erdogan the opportunity to "make decisive contribution to the settlement of the Cyprus problem" he added, reiterating Greece’s support for Turkey’s European course.

Regarding Serbia, Droutsas said that the stance of President Boris Tadic vis-à-vis the constitution proves once again that Serbia is committed to its European prospect.
