Independent film director Ari Bafalouka’s creation "Apnea" is heading to the Montreal World Film Festival (August 26 to September 6), where it will be screened as part of the First Films World Competition section in early September, becoming the first Greek film to appear at this prestigious event.
This is the story of a competitive swimmer who has just won the gold at the European games, yet feels little satisfaction with his achievement, as he has experienced a tragedy in his personal life that makes him reevaluate his entire trajectory.
A swimming champion himself, Bafalouka’s "Apnea" borrows its name from the exercise whereby swimmers spend an extended period of time underwater, in an introspective and meditative mood.
