Five Greek banks successfully passed the stress tests conducted by the Committee of European Banking Supervisors (CEBS) and national supervisory authorities.
Four of them (Hellenic Postbank, Alpha Bank, EFG Eurobank and National Bank) qualified relatively easily, Piraeus marginally scraped and ATEbank was the only one which failed the adverse scenario of a serious financial shock. However, all six banks have passed the benchmark scenario of the stress tests.

Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou said that "the results are positive and show that the Greek Banking System can respond to even harsher conditions than those now."
