  • DESTE Prize 2015
The DESDE Prize was established in 1999 in order to support and promote contemporary art in Greece, and is awarded biennially to a young artist living in Greece or abroad.

The six shortlisted artists for the DESTE Prize 2015 present their work in the DESTE Prize exhibition hosted by the Museum of Cycladic Art, running until September 30.

The DESTE Prize is awarded to the shortlisted artist whose work best explores new directions and opens new roads in contemporary art, thus contributing to the international art dialogue. This Year’s Prize was awarded on September 7 to Angelo Plessas.

  • Aeschylia Festival 2015
I/E Eleusis

Tarek Atoui was invited by Locus Athens to create a new work for Elefsina as part of the 2015 Aeschylia festival.

Atoui will present I/E Eleusis, a new narrative of the city, inspired by ‘musique concrete’ and three performances by Greek and international musicians. The exhibition runs from September 3 to October 11.

In Flux

Inspired by recent political and economic developments and the current state of influx in our world, works by a group of European artists are being showcased in an exhibition entitled "In Flux" in the town of Elefsina.

Presented by the 2015 Aeschylia festival, the exhibition is running at the Leonidas Kanellopoulos Community Center from September 1 to October 9.

  • Tony Cragg at the Benaki Museum
The famous British sculptor Tony Cragg will present his solo exhibition at the Benaki Museum from September 10 to November 8.

The sculptures presented at the exhibition have been mainly made of wood, bronze, stone and mirror-finished stainless steel. 

Cragg’s innovative use of urban and industrial detritus opened up a new territory for sculpture, at the same time as dealing with environmental and social concerns in post-industrial Britain.

  • Faces-European Portrait Photography since 1990
The exhibition will be hosted at the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography from September 12, while the opening ceremony will take place on Oct. 3.

The  exhibition brings together the work of 32 photographers and visual artists who in the past 25 years have been key innovation figures in European portrait photography.

The exhibition demonstrates the power and diversity of contemporary European photography and makes links with the Renaissance tradition, the origin of the portrait genre.

"Faces" is a joint project of BOZAR – Palais des Beaux-Arts, the Nederlands Fotomuseum and the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography.
