- Hop on a luxury minivan!
Getting around a city as a tourist can be either adventurous or relaxing, depending on the mood and the number of people in the group. For those who choose comfort, a new trend has been set in the city of Athens: getting around Athens in a luxury minivan which can accommodate up to 9 people and can take its passengers on day trips outside the city (i.e. Delphi, Ancient Olympia, Mycenae etc.).The service includes the driver, a tour guide and a full-day itinerary to help the guests make the most of their time. Thematic trips as for example visits to the Meteora Monasteries on religious sight-seeing are popular.
- Extending the season
Extending the tourism season in Greece has been a long lasting ambition of businesses and the competent authorities. For 2015, the Ministry of Tourism plans to launch a pilot scheme which will operate resorts in Crete and the Dodecanese group of islands (Rhodes and others) for a 9-month period. The idea is to focus on attractions such as sports, gastronomy, conferences and senior tourism.
