Each and every ski destination has its own character and alpine charm; there are no fewer than 18 ski centres around Greece and 190km of slopes, ranging from nursery to black. Whether it’s skiing, snowboarding or just the lively après ski scene on offer, skiing in Greece offers unexpected delights.
Parnassos is the largest and best-equipped ski resort, near cosmopolitan Arahova, at an altitude of 1,600-2,300m. It boasts 19 trails totaling 36km, while the Vakhos and Iniochos ski runs are certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS).
Kalavryta ski centre is located at the fir-covered slopes of mountain Helmos. Surprisingly the place offers skiing with a view to the sea! Its 12 ski runs cover every level of difficulty; tt is known for having the longest slope in Greece, Nefeli, which starts at 2,340m above sea level.
One of the largest and most impressive ski centres in the country can is the Velouhi plateau in Karpenissi. Spread over 5,500 square metres, at an altitude of 1,850-2,000 m, it boasts 18 slopes; of which one for experienced skiers and snowboarders.
3-5 Pigadia can be found on the eastern side of Mt. Vermio, at an altitude of 1,430-2,005 m, surrounded by green forest. It’s famous for its ski run named Filippos, the best expert skiers’ slope in Greece, while Aristotelis, 2,000m long, is certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS). It further has a separate snowboard park, for snowboarding and free
riding.
The ski resort at Vasilitsa, located in the heart of the Pindos Mountains, in a majestic landscape (2,150m), has 18 ski runs which total 24km in length, as well as a snowboard park.
Seli [in Greek] in Imathia, is one of the largest ski centres in Greece, mainly suitable for intermediate and beginner-level skiiers and snowboarders. There are also cross-country trails and downhill slopes. The ski centre of Falakro [in Greek], near Drama is the biggest in Macedonia. It often has great snow quality and its season lasts from December until April.
Kaimakstalan ski resort occupies the northeastern slope of Mt.Voras. Skiers run from 2,480m altitude, where the highest lift carries the skiers, down to 2,050m, where the luxury chalet is located. The view is amazing, since you can see as far as Thermaikos Gulf, the peak of Mt. Olympus, and Vegoritida lake. It offers 13 ski runs, 15 km in total length.
