The sea water quality at the port of Piraeus will be monitored in an innovative way, via a pollution-hunting robot fish, the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) announced on June 3, on the occasion of World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5. The 50-kilo, 110-centimeters-long robot fish, to be used by the port of Piraeus, detects and measures pollutants through its sensors. It moves automatically or manually, using sound waves and GPS, and transmits information and images to four screens at the PPA Environmental Centre.

Control units have also been installed to monitor air pollution, recycling, the quality of the sea water, on shore-generated and ship-generated waste management, as well as photovoltaic parks.
