The film is the result of collaboration between engineers Ignatios Fotiou and George Sotiriadis, and director Nikos Logothetis.
In 2008, Fotiou and Gerassimos Fessian invented Seatrac, an innovative model that allows people on wheelchairs to reach the sea without help from others. The project was developed with the support the department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering of the University of Patras, and has been installed in many beaches near Patras.
Logothetis, who was looking for an idea for a short film on innovations, came together with the group earlier this year, and they collaborated in the making of Seatrac, the documentary.
In the 3-minute film Gerassimos Fessian, a regional council member and a disabled person himself describes how the innovative model has changed his life as well as that of other disabled people in Patras. The film participates at Vimeo’s Focus Forward filmmaker competition, and has been shortlisted as one of the 10 semifinalists for the audience favourite award.
