A solo exhibition of works by painter, sculptor and performance artist Jannis Kounellis, was inaugurated in London at the Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art, on November 28.

The exhibition - which runs until February 17, 2013 and is held under the auspices of the London office of Hellenic Foundation for Culture - aims to juxtapose Kounellis’s early works from the 1960s to the 80s with his own response to them from today’s standpoint.

The ultimate aim of the exhibition is to culminate in a more recent and spontaneous work.Born in 1936 in Piraeus, Kounellis moved to Rome in 1956, where he has lived and worked ever since, having become a prominent figure of Arte Povera, a movement that emerged in the 1960s.
