In the past, Greek tavernas were typified as places with excellent food, but decoration-wise they were an interior designer’s nightmare, with fake vine leaves hanging from the ceiling and Dionysus and Aphrodite replicas in the entrance. Fortunately, modern-day Greek taverns have more to offer their customers apart from excellent food: cutting-edge interior design, matching the quality and the supremacy of the dishes served!

We are talking about the restaurants Fabrika Kreaton [Meat Factory] and Farma Kreaton [Meat Farm] in Komotini, northeastern Greece, a multicultural urban hub, a meeting place of civilizations right in the heart of Thrace!

The twin restaurants have won the acclaimed Best of Year Awards 2012, organised by Interior Design magazine, in the category of Casual Dining. They were designed by Minas Kosmidis Architecture in Concept, a Thessaloniki brand in interior design.

Fabrika was inspired by a Greek butcher shop, while Farma alludes to countryside barn chic. Both spaces ascribe to minimalism galore, with simple wooden tables, mismatched chairs and village-like potted plants.

No wonder the two restaurants have featured in numerous design magazines, such as Plastik Visual Magazine, Casas y Más, and Modern Decoration China. Yes, you can enjoy your kontosouvli and still be in an ultra-modern restaurant - only in Komotini! Check please!
