The  53rd Thessaloniki Film Festival culminated with the costumary awards ceremony marking the end of this year's edition ; the Best Feature Film Award - Golden Alexander was given to A Hijacking, by Danish Tobias Lindholm. A  drama with thriller elements , the film documents the story of cargo ship hijacked by Somali pirates.

The Special Jury Award - Silver Alexander went to the film Mold by Ali Aydin, a Turkish German co- production about a 55-year old man who is searching for his lost son, a political activism. Special Jury Award for Originality and Innovation - Bronze Alexander was bestowed to the film Epilogue, by Israeli Amir Manor.
