Sixty-five exhibits that had been stolen from the Olympic Games Museum in Ancient Olympia in February 2012 were recovered on November 24, due to the persistent efforts of the Greek police.

In a written statement following the arrest of the perpetrators,  the Minister for Culture Costas Tzavaras noted the success of the police operation and  the strong messages it sends within Greece and abroad.

The artifacts will be put back on display in the Museum next week, to coincide with the opening of a digital exhibition on the ancient Olympic Games at the same venue.
