According to an announcement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Greece has decided to vote in favour of the Resolution upgrading Palestine’s status to that of UN non-member observer state in today’s session of the United Nations General Assembly. This decision is consistent with Greece’s position on the resolution of the issue based on a two- state solution: an independent and viable Palestinian state coexisting in peace and security with the state of Israel.

Greece hails the provision of the draft resolution for the immediate and unconditional return of the two parties to the negotiation table and expresses the hope that the two parties will take advantage of this new opportunity for peacemaking and avoid any action that might undermine direct negotiations.
