The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) has called for a Day of Action and Solidarity, across Europe today (November 14), in favour of employment and solidarity and against austerity. Approximately 40 trade union organisations from 23 countries will be participating in this pan-European action, which will take various forms: strikes, demonstrations, rallies and other actions.

Strikes and work stoppages will be held for the first time simultaneously in four countries -Spain, Portugal, Greece and Italy. In Greece, in particular, the civil servants trade union (ADEDY) and the Federation of Trade Unions (GSEE) have called for a three-hour work stoppage [VIDEO], at noon, and participation in a protest rally, on Klafthmonos Sq, in central Athens.

Demonstrations and other actions will be held in many countries, along with a rally in front of the headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels, from 12h00 to 13h00.
