- Lagonissi: Best European Beach Resort
Grand Resort Lagonissi was named Best European Beach Resort in the Eye Awards for 2011. This comes as another distinction for the extra luxury hotel, which has previously won awards by Conde Nast, Trip Advisor and World Travel Awards.
The prestigious Eye Awards have been established by tourism industry professionals to define "the best of the best" in luxury hotels, as experienced by travellers. Awards are given in seven categories for six regions, while each regional category winner qualifies for the Golden Eye Award, the best overall hotel.

Not surprisingly, Greece has 3 out of 101 entries. Again, not surprisingly, the Parthenon takes the 9th spot, while the dramatic Red Beach of Santorini ranks 23rd.
What does come as a surprise is entry No 72: the brand new Amanzoe resort in the Peloponnese. Situated on a hilltop near Porto Heli and with breathtaking views of the Aegean and Spetses Island, it is no wonder Amanzoe was the only hotel that made it to the list.
