As the Commissioner noted, Greek authorities are doing a good job in dealing with undocumented immigrants, despite the significant pressure on the country due to its geographical position on EU’s southeastern border.

"The new government is facing many challenges here, but improvements have actually been carried out recently. Coordination has improved and new centres have been built," Malmström wrote in a blog post following the visit. Today, Malmström will hold a meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in Athens, as well as with representatives of several organisations working with refugees.
