In 2015 Greece has achieved the highest growth rates in terms of British arrivals and expenditure compared to rival destinations: The latest available data show a 24.9 percent increase in arrivals to 1.8 million in the first eight months of the year, while expenditure rose 33.5 percent to 1.48 billion euros. GNTO believes the growth is attributed to the continued value and unrivaled variety offered by Greece.
The president of the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis, says that the early signs from 2016 bookings from Britain are positive, although the sample is too small to deduce any safe conclusions at this stage.
