Athens Biennale 2015-2017 "OMONOIA"

Bridging the past with the present and the future, the Athens Biennale 2015-2017 "OMONOIA", launches a two-year period of activities as of November 18.

The programme begins with Synapse 1: Introducing a laboratory for production post-2011 (November 18-29), an ongoing collective experiment, which will transform the city central area of Omonoia into a social laboratory of ideas with the contribution of anthropologists, researchers, activists, academics, artists, civic organisations and self-managed groups. 

"Medecins Sans Frontieres" share their stories at Technopolis

Members of the Greek branch of the Medecin Sans Frontieres (MSF) international humanitarian organization share their stories of the organization’s 25-year history through a series of events running at the Technopolis cultural complex in Athens, November 18-22. "Untold Stories" includes screenings and a photography exhibition. 

"Wor(th)ship" photography exhibition 

The photographic ‘fieldwork’ of Tassos Vrettos, among the makeshift places of worship of migrants and refugees in and around Athens, will be presented for the first time at the Pireos St Annexe of the Benaki Museum. 

The photographer records an invisible network within the city: basements and rented flats, apartment blocks and garages, playing fields and outdoor public spaces, squares and courtyards, structures made ad hoc in temporary or permanent addresses for groups of Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Spiritualists and Christians of various denominations and multiple ethnic origins. It is a ‘work in progress’ that began in 2012, with the collaboration of community members and with respect to their identities. 

Mineral Exhibition of Greek Collectors

The Mineralogy and Petrology Museum of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens is holding, for the fifth consecutive year, the "Mineral Exhibition of Greek Collectors", inviting visitors to admire the impressive minerals from around the world coming from Greek collectors. 

Within the framework of the exhibition, the event “Sunday Mornings at the Minerology Museum” (Nov. 22 and 29, Dec. 6 and 13) will give visitors the opportunity to discover the beauty of gems, the particularity of meteorites as well as the uniqueness of fluorescent minerals, to participate in educational activities, attend lectures and guided tours. 

The exhibition will run from November 22 to December 13.
