Tourism/Economy/Wine

The classification of 9 wine regions, all European, in UNESCO world heritage over the past 15 years has shown how the 'Vine and Wine' heritage, consists a significant lever for economic and tourism development. The interaction between the wine production and the tourism industries generates a model of 'cross-fertilization' well illustrated in Santorini

In this context, the famous Greek island is hosting from November 5-7 the international conference "Heritage and development of Vine and Wine territories", organized by the UNESCO Chair "Culture and Traditions of Wine" of the University of Burgundy, the Municipality of Thira, the Greek Wine Federation (SEO), the Interprofessional Organization of Greek Vines and Wines, and the Agricultural University of Athens. The conference aims to present and compare the recent studies of all disciplines related on this broad field and will focus on the actors, the practices and the process of valorization of natural or erected landscapes in the world heritage. 

Education/ Linguistics

The Institute of Modern Greek Studies (M. Triandaphyllidis Foundation), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is organizing the "1st International Conference on Greek Etymology (Ancient, Medieval and Modern)", to be held on 5-6 November, at the Thessaloniki Public Library. 

The Greek language is an Indo-European, European and Balkan language, and both these dimensions emerge as a distinct issue in the compilation of etymological dictionaries. The conference aims to examine theoretical and practical aspects of etymological issues related to the Greek language, covering all its historical periods and varieties (both dialectal and standard). Similar issues regarding the Balkan area more broadly will also be addressed, with a special focus on the etymological investigation of elements of the Greek language in other languages of the Balkans.

Engineering/Technology

The 7th International Conference on Transport Research, entitled "From basic research to innovative applications" is organized by the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas and will take place on November 5-6, at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, in Athens. 

The conference is addressed to all members of the scientific community as well as to agencies and authorities of all government levels. It is also addressed to private sector industries activated in the design, development and implementation of innovative applications in the transport sector.

Business/Leisure

The Athens Bar Show, an annual educational expo for bartenders and bar professionals will take place this year at Technopolis City of Athens, on November 3-4, 2015.

Visitors will be given the opportunity to learn, by attending seminars and speeches from International experts, to try over 300 different products, to get inspired for new and exciting cocktails, to network and meet the top Greek bartenders and to discover new ideas and solutions for bar businesses.
