The Urban Art Ventures project recently took place in Greece’s second largest city, Thessaloniki, (20-29 Sept), organized by Jugend-& Kulturprojekt e.V. It was a venture in revitalizing urban space through street art and cultural activities, as well changing perceptions about street art -at times confused with vandalism- by showing that street art can transform urban spaces into open air galleries.

35 urban artists, street performers and urban art educators from Greece and abroad shared their experiences and best practices relating to the use of urban art as a medium to promote active participation, understanding, respect for the other, as well as for public spaces.

Moreover, they contributed to the Thessaloniki’s urban art by creating artwork in collaboration with local artists, whilst a series of open workshops promoted social interaction, intercultural exchange and dialogue with locals.
