
The Eurogroup of euro zone finance ministers will hold a conference call today to discuss an expected Greek request for financial assistance through the
European Stability Mechanism (ESM), Eurogroup President Jeroen Dijsselbloem
said, after the meeting of Eurozone finance ministers of the Eurozone yesterday. At the meeting, the new Greek Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos’ assessed the situation in the wake of last Sunday’s Greek
referendum results.
Dijsselbloem noted that as soon as the request is submitted, the EU institutions will be asked to
examine the financial situation in Greece, the financing needs in debt sustainability, following which a decision could be made to formally start talks.
