Geo Routes Cultural Heritage Journeys Institute and the National Kyiv-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Preserve signed a memorandum of understanding which aims to strengthen intercultural dialogue, mutual understanding as well as promotion of cultural relations between Greece and Ukraine.

The initiative further aims to help local communities through volunteer programmes and Corporate Social Responsibility projects. In addition, both institutes agreed to set up a working group, to develop proposals promoting the cultural heritage of the two peoples.

The Geo Routes Cultural Heritage Journeys Institute is a non-profit and non-governmental body, organizing cultural and environmental journeys, operating under the auspices of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, the European Commission and the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


The Kiev Pechersk Lavra, a historic Orthodox Christian monastery that was founded in 1051 and along with the Cathedral of Saint Sophia is inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Historic-Cultural Preserve is housed within this complex.
