Greece, Cyprus and Egypt are pillars of security in a wider destabilised region, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said yesterday (29.04) following the conclusion of the trilateral Greece-Cyprus-Egypt summit in Nicosia. The talks in Nicosia between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt aim at developing and boosting ties in finances, politics, energy and diplomacy concluded with the three leaders giving a press conference.
The premier said that they agreed to proceed with the delimitation of exclusive economic zones (EEZ), where it is necessary, according to international law and the law of the sea. He noted, however, that this process will not only be in the interest of the three countries, but it will also be a challenge for other countries in the region to cooperate and delimitate their maritime zones on the basis of all principles of international law. Tsipras spoke of further deepening cooperation between Greece and Egypt, stressing that "economic, commercial and energy cooperation contribute effectively and are prerequisites for the consolidation of prosperity but also peace and stability in the region."
