The Greek government denied on Wednesday (April 1) it would delay a payment to the International Monetary Fund due on April 9. "There is no chance that Greece will not meet its obligations to the IMF on April 9," government spokesman Gabriel Sakellaridis told Reuters. Sakellaridis said talks with lenders had covered common ground and that the government expected a "positive outcome" at a meeting of euro zone finance ministers.

  • EIB Reaffirms Commitment to Greece
The European Investment Bank, in a statement issued on April 1, reaffirmed “its full commitment to supporting public and private sector investment in Greece.” Contrary to  media reports, the EIB stressed that “at present loan disbursements in Greece continue and are not influenced by any factors, other than administrative and contractual circumstances specific to each deal.” According to the announcement, more than € 11.0 billion have been given to Greece since 2008, for activities in education, energy, transport, telecommunications, water and urban development projects.
