According to the Interior Ministry results of the Parliamentary Elections that took place yesterday (January 25), seven parties are entering the Hellenic Parliament.

With 99.8% of the vote counted, the results are as follows: the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA) is first with 36.34% of the vote securing 149 seats; New Democracy is in second place with 27.81% and 76 seats; Chrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn) is third with 6.28% and 17 seats; To Potami with 6.05% and 17 seats; the Greek Communist Party (KKE) at 5.47% and 15 seats; Independent Greeks at 4.75% and 13 seats; PASOK stands at 4.68% and 13 seats; George Papandreou’s newly formed Kinima gets 2.46% but fails to enter Parliament.

SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras said: "Today the Greek people have written history, hope has written history," said, addressing crowds of people gathered at the Propylaea of the Athens University in central Athens, after his party’s victory. Tsipras is in the process of forming a new government, meeting with Independent Greeks (ANEL) leader Panos Kammenos this morning and later with Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis.

Outgoing Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said in statements at the press centre: "Deeply moved, I thank from my heart all the women and men that stood beside us in this difficult race. I want them to feel proud of this battle that we waged together, just as I feel very proud of them. "The Greek people have spoken and we all respect their decision," he said.
