  • George Pelecanos @ Onassis Cultural Centre
"The greatest living writer of detective novels in America," as Stephen King called him, George Pelecanos will discuss, this evening, his relationship with Greece and America, with journalist Marilena Astrapellou, at the Onassis Cultural Centre. Born in Washington in 1957 to Greek parents, Pelecanos never lost the contact with his origin, as evidenced by the names and temperament heroes appearing in the bestseller books. The debate will be broadcast live on at 19:00 in Greek and English.
  • The Valley of Astonishment @ Municipal Theatre of Piraeus
The play The Valley of Astonishment is being staged at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus from December 2-6. The play, written by English theatre and film director Peter Brook and directed by Marie- Hélène Estienne and Brook, explores the human brain; the impressive experiences of people who see the world under a different light. The spectator is led into new and unknown territories through people with intense secret lives; who can pass any instant from paradise to hell and back again. The performance is in English with Greek subtitles.
  • La Boheme @ Greek National Opera
The Greek National Opera re-emerges with one of its oldest productions: Puccini’s popular La Bohème, in the version of the celebrated Italian director, Lina Wertmüller. Images from nostalgic postcards; sets and costumes inspired by Toulouse-Lautrec's Paris will be revived at the Olympia Theatre stage. The plot is about the love of a poet, Rodolfo, for a seamstress, Mimi, against the backdrop of a freezing Paris at Christmas, from the moment they first meet until the death of the girl from tuberculosis. The performance will be running until December 31. Lukas Karytinos is conducting.
