The curtain fell on the 55th Thessaloniki International Film Festival on November 8. The festival featured 150 films from around the world and the audience honoured filmmakers, with an over- 96%- capacity in the theatres. The closing ceremony featured the emblematic personalities like actress Hanna Schygulla, Serbian activist filmmaker Zelimir Zilnik and Ramin Bahrani, one of the most important voices of American cinema.
The awards: The Best Feature Film Award - Golden Alexander Theo Angelopoulos was awarded to the film La Tirisia ("Perpetual sadness") by Jorge Perez Solano, (Mexico, 2014). The Special Jury Award - Silver Alexander was bestowed to At Li Layla ("Next to Her"), by Asaf Korman, (Israel, 2014). The Special Jury Award for Originality and Innovation - Bronze Alexander was awarded to Urok (“The Lesson”), by Kristina Grozeva, Petar Valchanov (Bulgaria-Greece, 2014). The Best Director Award was given to Myroslav Slaboshpytskiy for Plemya ("The Tribe") (Ukraine, 2014).
