Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos is visiting Cyprus for meeting with Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides ahead of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras’ visit on November 7.

This morning, the foreign minister participated in a trilateral meeting his counterparts from Cyprus, Ioannis Kasoulides and Egypt, Sameh Hassan Shoukry. In his statement upon arrival in Cyprus, Venizelos said that "the trilateral cooperation between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt has been underway for some time now and this is the third ministerial meeting that we are holding in preparation for the first Summit Meeting." Moreover, he said "this is a very important moment for the Republic of Cyprus, because we have the Turkish provocation, the disputing of the existence and legal personality of the Republic of Cyprus, along with its sovereign rights." He made clear that the international community must give a clear response, which Turkey must comprehend. The trilateral cooperation, he said, is not cooperation hostile to Turkey. It is cooperation that is aimed at the stabilization and prosperity of the region.
