Addressing the plenary of the European Parliament yesterday (22.10), the new European Commission president Jean-Claude expressed his intention to assign the portfolio of European Citizenship to the Greek Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos.

Juncker made the statement while presenting the priorities of the new European Commission. He stated that the EU was not up to the circumstances as far as the treatment of the Ebola virus in Africa is concerned, adding that he has asked the Greek Commissioner for Migration Dimitris Avramopoulos and the Cypriot Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianidis to go to Africa to demonstrate the interest and active presence of the EU in the problem of treating the Ebola virus.
