The Greek Culture Ministry has decided to submit the film Little England (Mikra Agglia) [2013] as the official Greek entry in the Foreign Language Film category for the Academy Awards 2015. Little England is the latest film by the renowned veteran Greek filmmaker Pantelis Voulgaris.

Set in the 1930s and 1940s, the story is about the love affair of two sisters with the same man, within the provincial society on the Greek island of Andros (affectionately called ‘Little England’, as its small society imitated the social organisation of the mighty English naval empire).

The director was awarded the Golden Goblet Award for best film at the Shanghai International Film Festival (June 2014). Voulgaris also won the award for best director while Pinelopi Tsilika was presented with the award for best actress.
