The 5th Athens Bike Festival, the largest bike event in Greece, will open its gates on September 19 and will run through September 21. This year, the City of Athens participates with the rest of the EU in celebrating European Mobility Week, the focal theme of which is Our streets, our choice; its aim is to emphasize the need to re-evaluate the way we use the urban spaces.

Many parallel events will be held during this big celebration. Visitors will have the chance to see many bikes, as all the cycling companies will showcase their bikes and accessories. They will further discover the business side of cycling, through the Bicycle, a wheel of growth event. Finally visitors will have the chance to admire old, classic bikes, at the 1st Exhibition of Old Bicycles.
  • North- South Bicycle Lane
At an event hosted by the City of Athens to mark European Mobility Week, on September 16, Environment Minister Yiannis Maniatis announced that a bicycle lane spanning 27 kilometers from the northern suburb of Kifissia to Faliro in southern Athens will be ready by the end of 2015. Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis pledged to make efforts to find space for the creation of bike stands.
