  • Thessaloniki International Book Fair

The 11th Thessaloniki International Book Fair will be held from today (8.05) until May 11. With 218 exhibitors from 14 countries, the International Book Fair surpasses all previous entries. Apart from Greece, participants come from Bosni-Herzegovina, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, China, Croatia, Korea, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey; Israel is the honoured country. The fair includes a children’s-teenager’s corner; more than 230 parallel events are scheduled with the participation of Greek and foreign writers, scholars and artists.

E X H I B I T I O N S
  • A Thousand Doors @ Gennadius Library
The exhibition A Thousand Doors will be held at the Gennadius Library, until June 30. Organised by NEON, an Organization for Contemporary Culture, and the Whitechapel Gallery in London, the exhibition displays works by Greek and international artists; it will be installed throughout the Gennadius Library's campus, both inside the library spaces and outside in the gardens. The selected works are executed in a wide range of media, which include video, sound and sculpture installations. The exhibition will be accompanied by free guided tours, open discussions, and educational programmes.
  • Accelerating Science @ Eugenides Foundation
The interactive travelling exhibition Accelerating Science set by CERN, the European nuclear research facility in Geneva, will be on show at the Eugenides Foundation until May 31. The exhibition, which is on a European tour to celebrate the 60th anniversary since CERN's foundation, is designed for adults and children over 10 years old and aims to bring the general public closer to the groundbreaking science taking place at the huge particle accelerator at CERN's underground facility. Entrance is free of charge.
  • PhotoBiennale @ Thessaloniki Museum of Photography
PhotoBiennale of Thessaloniki will be inaugurated on May 9, at the area of the city port. Organised by the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography, the Biennale will bring together 100 Greek and international artists from 23 countries showing 1,000 of their creations. This year's show, which will run until August, focuses on Logos and it will be developed through a series of actions (exhibitions, discussions, parallel events, screenings, concerts) at more than 20 points throughout Thessaloniki .

M U S I C
  • City Lives @ Megaron
City Lives, a multimedia musical production by Alexandros Mouzas, will be staged at the Athens Concert Hall, on May 9-10. The performance is an approach of multilevel human life in the city, its people, its parallel lives. The man through the different activities, ideas, beliefs, connected and embedded in a differents networks, shaping informal groups, societies and subcultures. The show tries to deconstruct these different stratifications, focusing on visual aspects of life of a city.
