The Acropolis Museum in Athens has been included on a list of the 20 most "fascinating" museums in the world, "well worth visiting again," compiled by the editors of online architectural magazine Archdaily, titled "20 Amazing 21st Century Museums." The list was announced in honour of International Museum Day on May 18.

The editors refer to the museum’s principle features, "Designed with spare horizontal lines and utmost simplicity, the Museum is deliberately non-monumental, focusing the visitor’s attention on extraordinary works of art. With the greatest possible clarity, the design translates programmatic requirements into architecture."
